Nano Lopez – Master Sculptor
A bit about the artist:
Nano Lopez is an artist gifted with the rare ability to attach a detailed story to his art. He is deeply fascinated by the sometimes troubling mysteries of life and its inherent struggles. Nano Lopez was born in 1955. He was raised in Bogota Colombia. At 23 Nano Lopez began working as an apprentice in a monumental scale working primarily with granite, marble, and steel fabrication. In 1983 Nano Lopez relocated to the west coast of the United States. During the following four years was employed by various bronze foundries in the US. He further developed his production capabilities in welding, tooling, and patinas evolving into the artist that we admire today.
In Nano Lopez’s artistic process, Nano Lopez integrates organic textures and synthetic, and man made objects into his sculptures. Each item or pattern tells a part of the story the character holds. Although colorful and whimsical, Nano Lopez’s work is anything but child’s play and invites careful, sustained viewing. Nano Lopez’s masterful art contains his native Colombia and Latin art style, but Lopez’s depth of understanding is open to be enjoyed universally.
